She did the Secretary of State job, she was a G, she held it down, she didn’t cry.

Ice-T, on why Hillary Clinton will be the first female president

The best part about this story is that the Huffington Post (via the AP) decided to explain to us what a “G” is. In case you didn’t know — it’s “the hip-hop term for gangster (a positive thing)”.

(via newsweek)

I love Ice-T as much as the next girl, but ‘she didn’t cry?’ Really, Ice? Glad you’re ready for a female president but could you check the sexism, pls?

The fact that I don’t want to dress like a woman doesn’t make me misogynist! Stop trying to tell me how I feel! I don’t feel like dressing like David Bowie either, and I love David Bowie! I certainly don’t think it would be degrading to dress like Donal Trump, but I don’t feel like that either. I think it would be degrading to dress like Lady Gaga - but not because she’s a woman.
In any case, if you investigate, I’m sure you’ll find the resistance to cross-dressing in the general male population is more motivated by homophobia than misogyny (not that homophobia is any better, but the photo doesn’t take account of it).
People want to do things or don’t want to do things for all sorts of reasons. It’s not right to point at what someone and say “You feel like this because you’re not doing this.” Fuck off.

Those are song lyrics, but okay. There is a pretty intimate relationship between misogyny and homophobia. Much of the hatred directed at gay men is focused around the stereotypical idea that they’re effeminate, as well as disgust toward gay male sex because being the “receiver” is degrading.
Aside from which, the “you” in the song is society, not men who don’t want to dress in drag. The point is that if a man wants to appear “feminine” by wearing dresses, make-up, etc, it will be frowned upon. The United States has pretty rigid ideas on what behavior and style of dress are appropriate for the sexes. As a case in point, I read this disgusting article earlier today.

Attacking femaleness, deriding ‘girly stuff’ and rolling your eyes at ‘women’s issues,’ declaring yourself a ‘tomboy’ who gets along better with men because women are silly or pretty or whatever - these are expressions of internalised sexism. If that’s the way you feel about your own sex you’ll be doomed to feel inferior no matter what you achieve in life.

Emily is correct as usual.

House Republicans Drop 'Forcible Rape' Language From Abortion Bill ›

thehumorlessfeminist:

House Republicans announced Thursday that they are taking a step back from a particularly controversial passage of a piece of anti-abortion legislation that many had criticized as a dangerous redefinition of the acts that constituted “rape.”

A small and swift victory.

Keep in mind, however, that this bill still keeps the original language from the Hyde Amendment. Make no mistake—they let us win this one, but at its core, the anti-choice movement still relies on widespread, deep-seated misogyny.

PETA's disgusting casting video ›

femmefeminist:

is it a casting video for porn? no, it’s for PETA not that you can really tell much of a difference. when will PETA stop using women’s bodies and sexuality to promote vegetarianism? the end doesn’t justify the means, and i don’t think anyone goes veg based on these misogynistic ads.

Well, these fatphobic jerks are at it again. I would fall out of my chair if I ever saw a PETA ad that didn’t include a half naked woman. Disgusting.

PETA is incredibly talented. all in one ad they managed to: promote fatphobia, objectify women, give vegans a bad name, give those who care about animal rights a bad name, and make light of the tsa’s invasive body scan machines. nice job!

Fuck you PETA, you misogynistic fatphobic gits.

COME ON, PETA. WHAT ARE YOU DOING

This is fucking ridiculous. I want to punch durex in the face so hard.

Buy these condoms and women will want to put your comically-oversized penis in their mouths with no regard for their own personal safety.
(Thanks to lasocialista for throwing this link my way.)

WTF Durex. Now who am I supposed to buy my condoms from?

At first I didn’t even understand and then I was like, oh, no.
